Dhrupad developed from chanting of the Vedas and is the oldest form of Indian classical singing.
Meditational in nature, it begins very slowly and emphasises the spiritual aspect of the voice in the same way that Satyananda Yoga emphasises the spiritual aspects of yoga.
KD’s teachers, the Gundecha Brothers are conducting a weekend workshop (Friday 4th evening, all day Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October). Gundecha Brothers are performing in the Darbar Festival at the Barbican on 12th and 13th October.
